This Program Has Encountered An Error & Must Enlighten You

I was going through the Buddhist Geeks podcast archives & found this nice moment in an interview with Dzogchen Ponlop, the author of Rebel Buddha. In going over old Tibetan stories about Buddhist monks becoming enlightened after mundane things like teacups breaking:

Vincent: I was just thinking about maybe like a contemporary story would be like someone posting to Twitter, to Facebook then suddenly waking up. I was just wondering maybe if there are any stories like that, that are coming to…

Dzogchen Ponlop: For me like when the windows freeze or the windows crashed.

Vincent: Oh, yeah totally. [laughs]

Dzogchen Ponlop: Microsoft. That’s a moment. When the hour-glass never stops, that’s the moment. Or when you have worked on a document that’s like twenty pages long and suddenly it has disappeared. That’s like, “pow”, wake up moment. So thanks for Microsoft!

There's a transcript of the interview, but you should probably just subscribe to the podcast.
