remarkable verisimilitude

I am going to rewrite “The Emperor’s New Clothes” but change the end so that the child never speaks, and instead the crowd admires the emperor’s fashionable new wardrobe, and imitates it, and everyone manages to live happily knowing that though they aren’t really wearing clothes, neither are they not wearing clothes, and one day a traveler comes and tells them that they’re all naked and everyone sort of looks at him and chuckles and shrugs and says, “well… yeah.”
