missing the opportunity that's been unleashed
Those of us taking part in the transition from a consumer culture to a producer culture have to be aware of the values we're embedding in the next culture & economy--and we have to be aware of it before it just becomes "the way things are done." It's very easy to do things the same way as we used to without recognizing the opportunity that's been unleashed. It's very easy for a society to believe that the greatest gifts of the digital age are the iPhone and Facebook. They're great things and they do all this stuff, but on closer inspection we realize they're just corporate reactions to the possibility of digital culture. They're not expressions of digital culture, they're defensive reactions. So what are we missing?
